1. Who we are
Palmas is operated by Kealy Studio. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the Palmas mobile app and this website, how we use it, and the choices you have. The short version: Palmas works without an account, collects very little, and contains no advertising or analytics tracking.
2. Information we collect
If you use Palmas without signing in — which is the normal way to use it — we collect no personal information about you. There is no sign-up, no analytics, and no tracking. Like any internet service, our servers briefly see your device's IP address when the app requests forecasts and recommendations; these routine infrastructure logs are not linked to any profile of you.
If you choose to sign in with Google or Apple (entirely optional), we store the basics your provider shares with us:
- Account information — your email address, your name, and the web address of your profile picture.
- Notification token — if you also allow notifications, a push-notification token for your device, so we can send you notifications in the future. We don't currently send any.
Some things stay on your phone only and are never uploaded: your language choice, your light/dark theme setting, and the suggestions you've marked “Not for me”.
Things we never collect: your location (recommendations are for fixed spots around Gran Canaria — the app never reads your device's GPS), your contacts, your photos, and usage analytics of any kind.
3. How we use your information
We use the information above to:
- Show you your profile when you're signed in
- Make notifications possible in the future, if you've allowed them
- Respond to your support requests
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
4. Third-party services
Palmas relies on a small number of services to function. Each processes data in accordance with its own privacy policy:
- Supabase — hosts our database and handles sign-in sessions. Account information is stored here.
- Google Cloud — hosts the Palmas server that prepares recommendations.
- Google Sign-In and Apple Sign-In — only if you choose to sign in with them.
- Expo — registers your device's push-notification token, if you allow notifications.
- Unsplash — the activity photos in the app are loaded from Unsplash's image servers, which see your IP address when a photo loads, the same as loading an image on any website.
Our forecasts are built from Open-Meteo weather, marine, and air-quality data. Our servers request that data for fixed points around Gran Canaria — nothing about you is ever sent to Open-Meteo.
5. Data retention and deletion
We keep your account information for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account yourself, instantly, in the app (Profile → Edit profile → Delete account), or ask us by email — see the data deletion page. Deletion is permanent and removes your account details and notification tokens.
6. Security
Your data travels over encrypted connections (TLS) and is encrypted at rest by our hosting providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we keep the amount of personal data we hold deliberately small — the less we store, the less there is to protect.
7. Children's privacy
Palmas is not directed at children under 14, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal information we hold about you. To exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected]. If you are in the EU or EEA, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, notify you in the app.
10. Contact
If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, email us at [email protected].
