Features
Like a friend who reads the sky and the sea
Palmas watches the forecasts around Gran Canaria so you don't have to — and tells you what they mean for your day, whether you live here, you're visiting, or you're staying a while.
The best thing, first
Open the app and today's top pick is already on screen — one full-screen suggestion, with the reason it beats everything else.
Reasons, not readings
No charts to decode. Palmas talks like a local — “it's not windy, perfect for a dip” — and keeps the detail one tap away.
In tune with the tides
Snorkelling waits for low tide, surfing watches the swell. Sea conditions around the island are built into every suggestion.
Panza de Burro & Calima
Daily forecasts for the city's famous cloud blanket and for Saharan dust — so a grey Las Canteras morning never catches you out.
Plan the next five days
A five-day outlook shows which day suits the hike, the beach, or the stargazing — ideal for making the most of a short stay.
Private by design
No account needed, no ads, no tracking. Your preferences stay on your phone, and signing in is always optional.
How it works
No setup. Just open it.
There's nothing to configure and nothing to sign up for — Palmas is useful from the first second.
Get the app
Free on iOS and Android — and there's no sign-up after the download, either.
See what today is good for
The home feed opens on the best thing to do right now, with the reason why — in your language.
Head out
Check the detail that decides it — low-tide time, wind, dust — then grab your things and go.
The home feed
One good idea at a time
Every suggestion fills the screen: the activity, the conditions that make it work today, and nothing else. Swipe up for the next one.
- Full-screen cards you flick through — not a list to squint at
- Each pick explains itself, in plain, friendly language
- Tap “Not for me” and that suggestion steps aside for the next
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Straight answers to the things people ask most.
Is Palmas free?
Yes — Palmas is completely free, with no ads and no in-app purchases.
Do I need an account?
No. Everything works without signing in. You can optionally sign in with Google or Apple, which adds a profile today and will unlock account features like notifications later.
What are Panza de Burro and Calima?
Panza de Burro — “the donkey's belly” — is the grey cloud blanket that can sit over Las Palmas while the rest of the island basks in sunshine. Calima is Saharan dust haze. Palmas forecasts both, so you'll know whether it's a beach morning or a day to head for the mountains.
Where does the information come from?
Palmas combines professional weather, marine, and air-quality forecasts for spots around Gran Canaria with tide and astronomy calculations and local events — then turns it all into plain-language recommendations.
How is my data handled?
Very lightly — there's no tracking, and you don't even need an account. The full details are in our Privacy Policy, and you can delete your account and data at any time via the data deletion page.
How do I get help?
Head over to the support page and email us — a real person reads every message, and we aim to reply within two business days.
